The point about lexicon with parables of OG biblical hebrew, arabic, star trek, LOTR etc. really moved me this morning. Especially, the final example of asfuri / wezweza. 1) the onomatopoetic wezwez sounds like a semitic cognate. in amharic, we use this word to describe the swaying of the golden censer especially as the coals are beginning to ignite to light the incense. 2) asfuri in North America is called pig-latin and gibberish. we played with it on the playground of elementary school. in Ethiopia, it is called wef qwanqwa or wef lisan. my father’s sisters speak it fluently when they want to discuss secrets in front of us. the bird language or the bird tongue. and of course bird here is another cognate with biblical hebrew of.
